On their own, tea, coffee and espresso never contain sugar.

However, it’s add-ins like syrups, sweeteners, milk and toppings that turn unsweetened drinks into sugar-filled drinks.
So, if you’re after a Starbucks sugar-free drink, you have two options—customize your drink and leave out all sources of sugar. Or, order a drink that doesn’t have sugar in it to begin with.
To begin, let’s take a look at 21 Starbucks sugar-free drinks on the menu. These drinks require no modifications or so-called Starbucks hacks.

Tips to Custom Order Low-Sugar or Sugar-free Starbucks Drinks
Let’s face it, Starbucks has more drinks that contain sugar than don’t. So what do you do if you want to enjoy Starbucks deliciousness without all the sugar?
To help you order a low-sugar version of a Starbucks drink, here’s a look at ingredients to avoid.
Milk: Cow’s milk contains naturally-occurring sugar in the form of lactose. On the other hand, dairy-free milk often contains added cane sugar.
If you’re goal is to avoid “added sugar”, then opt for cow’s milk. If you’re goal is to avoid all forms of sugar, then skip the milk altogether.
In other words, Starbucks dairy-free drinks are not free of added sugar.
Sugar-free Starbucks Tip #1 Want milk in your latte, but not added sugar? Opt for dairy milk. All Starbucks milk alternatives have added sugar.
Flavored Syrups and Liquid Sweeteners: Starbucks has quite a line-up of syrups. Popular flavors include vanilla and cinnamon dolce, as well as the new kid on the block, brown sugar syrup.
In addition, there are liquid sweeteners like classic syrup and liquid cane sugar. These sweeten drinks without adding other flavor.
The thing is, almost all these bottled syrups and sweeteners have one thing in common—sugar. Exceptions include Starbucks sugar-free vanilla syrup and sugar-free cinnamon dolce.
Sugar-free Starbucks Tip #2 Want a sweet drink sans sugar? Select sugar-free vanilla or sugar-free cinnamon-dolce syrup. Or choose a sugar alternative like Stevia or Splenda.
Sauces & Toppings: Clearly, sugar-free Starbucks drinks doesn’t include drinks with decadent sauces and rich toppings.
This means, Starbucks strawberry drinks made with strawberry puree are a no-go. As is the much-loved Starbucks pumpkin spice sauce.
And, of course, Starbucks caramel drinks made with rich, buttery sauce contain sugar.
Basically, all Starbucks sauces and crunchy toppings have sugar in them. But what about Starbucks whipped cream and sweet cream cold foam?
While the cream portion of these toppings is dairy without added sugar, both these yummy toppings have sugary vanilla syrup in them.
Sugar-free Starbucks Tip #3 For an added-sugar-free topping, how about a latte with extra foam? Or for cold drinks, request cold foam, which is simply whipped non-fat dairy milk. You can even sprinkle on a little cinnamon or nutmeg for a touch of flavor.
Packaged Drinks or Mixes: There are some Starbucks drinks that are impossible to order sugar-free. This is because the drink concentrate or powder comes to Starbucks pre-packaged and contains sugar.
For instance, Starbucks Refreshers and Starbucks lemonade drinks cannot be ordered without sugar.
Additionally, all Starbucks chai drinks contain sugar that cannot be left out. Even Starbucks matcha powder is pre-mixed with sugar.
Sugar-free Starbucks Tip #4 Love Refreshers but not the sugar? Consider an Iced Passion Tango tea instead. Want a chai latte without sugar? Order a brewed chai tea or a latte made with chai tea bags.
