Frozen Raspberry Lemonade is incredibly easy to make and absolutely refreshing to drink.

Trust me, it’s as simple as blending together cold lemonade, homemade raspberry puree and ice cubes–lots of ice cubes. That’s it!

Don’t worry; the puree is simple too. To make a batch, you’ll just blend raspberries (fresh or frozen), sugar and lemon.

You can even make a batch in the blender, just before making the frozen lemonade. I love when you only have to clean up once.

The result is a summertime slushie that’s delightfully sweet and tart, and nearly impossible to stop sipping.

Why You’ll Love this Frozen Lemonade Drink

Seriously easy to make! Three ingredients and about a minute is all it takes to make a frozen raspberry lemonade. And as you can see for yourself, the color is really enticing.

Beyond refreshing. Nothing beats a glass of ice cold lemonade, but perhaps this raspberry flavored frozen version. Instead of being poured over ice, the raspberry and lemonade are blended with ice, for a frozen drink that’s a bit like a drinkable sorbet. Sounds yummy to me!

Fun summertime drink for kids. Whether you’re having a kids party, backyard barbecue or passing away a summer day, this is a fun drink to make with the kids. (They love pressing that blender button.) And it’s caffeine-free, too.

Frozen Raspberry Lemonade Recipe

This recipe has as much ice as lemonade and puree. You will need a high-speed blender to make it.

Ingredients

  • Raspberry Puree (or raspberries and sugar)
  • Lemonade (homemade or store-bought)
  • Ice Cubes
Ingredients needed to make a frozen raspberry lemonade slushie at home, including a bottle of homemade raspberry puree, bottle of Simply Lemonade and scoop full of ice cubes.
The key to making a smooth frozen lemonade is blending the raspberries and lemonade with lots of ice

Raspberry Puree – I love using my homemade raspberry puree recipe for making frozen lemonades. All you need to make a batch is raspberries, sugar and lemon.

You can also use store-bought puree. Or just toss in some macerated berries (raspberries combined with sugar to make them juicy).

For another fruit flavor, try this easy strawberry puree.

Lemonade – Use your favorite homemade lemonade recipe or just get a bottle of store-bought. I like the flavor of Simply Lemonade.

Ice – There’s a lot of ice in this drink, so make sure you use ice made with filtered water. A Brita water filter pitcher works well if you need a way to filter it.

If I’m making a lot of slushies for a party, I just buy a bag of ice. It always tastes good and is convenient.

Xanthan Gum (optional) – This emulsifier is completely optional, but it does keep the tiny bits of blended ice from separating from the rest of the drink.

It also gives the drink an almost-creamy texture.

You can see how I use it to make this copycat Starbucks Blended Strawberry Lemonade.

Instructions

This recipe makes a single 16-18 ounce beverage which can easily be divided into two servings.

  1. Add raspberry puree, lemonade and xanthan gum (if using) to blender container. Add ice and blend on low for 15 seconds, then high for a minute, until smooth.
  2. Pour frozen lemonade into a cup and garnish with raspberries or lemon, if desired. Serve immediately.

Detailed recipe and instructions are in recipe card at bottom of post.

Recipe Notes

Best served immediately. This icy beverage cannot be made in advance. Drink immediately for best results before bits of ice melt and change the consistency.

Don’t have raspberry puree? Combine raspberries and sugar in a bowl and let sit for at least 5 minutes until soft and juicy. Then add this mixture to the blender in place of puree.

For this method you can use fresh raspberries or frozen raspberries that have been thawed.

Use a powerful enough blender that can handle lots of ice. You certainly don’t need an expensive Vitamix blender, but you do need a blender that can handle ice. For ice-filled drinks like this, I use my Ninja blender with stacked blades.

Tips for Serving Frozen Lemonade

Chill the cups. Set a few cups inside the freezer for a few minutes until they come out frosty. It keeps the drink colder, longer.

Make mini portions for a party. Having a summer gathering with lots of guests? A tray of mini frozen lemonades is always a crowd pleaser. You can even trim down paper or plastic straws to size.

Make it boozy. For an adult version, mix in a little vodka or rum.
