Iced Strawberry Passion Tea
Iced Strawberry Passion Tea is one of my favorite summertime drinks. The combination of fresh strawberries and ice cold passion tea makes the most refreshing drink on a hot summer day.
What I love about herbal passion tea is that it’s caffeine-free so it’s perfect to sip on anytime of the day.
Additionally, when you mix passion tea with flavored syrup and another drink, the fun combinations are limitless.
Here, I’ll show you how to make three of my favorite homemade strawberry syrup and iced passion tea recipes: Iced Strawberry Passion Tea, Iced Strawberry Passion Tea Lemonade, and Iced Strawberry & Coconut Passion Tea Latte.
How to Make Iced Strawberry Passion Tea Drinks
Have you ever gotten an iced tea from Starbucks like their Passion Tango Tea Lemonade?
Delicious, right?
Well, if you pay attention to how the barista makes the iced tea, they simply combine tea concentrate, simple syrup and another drink.
For example, a Starbucks Iced Green Tea Lemonade is a mixture of green tea concentrate, liquid cane syrup and lemonade. Whereas, an Iced Green Tea is made with water instead of lemonade.
On the other hand, an iced tea latte brings together tea concentrate, simple syrup and milk.
Likewise, all three of the teas recipes in this post are a mixture of tea concentrate, simple syrup and another drink.
Both the passion tea concentrate and strawberry simple syrup are super simple to make. Here’s how I do it.
Step 1: Make Strawberry Syrup
Strawberry Syrup Ingredients:
- Fresh Strawberries
- Sugar
- Water
Strawberry syrup for drinks is so easy to make.
To make homemade strawberry syrup, all you have to do is heat up water, sugar and sliced strawberries on the stove.
Bring the mixture to a boil and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Then lower the temperature and let the strawberries simmer and steep for about 10 minutes.
The strawberry syrup will turn a nice deep red and the scent of strawberry will fill your kitchen.
Then, all you have to do is pour the syrup through a piece of cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer and you’re done.
Step 2: Make Passion Tea Concentrate
Passion Tea Ingredients
- Passion Tea Bags
- Filtered Water
Passion tea concentrate is equally as easy to make. Basically, all a tea concentrate is, is really strong tea.
The benefit to making tea concentrate is that it can be combined with other drinks.
For instance, I like to keep a pitcher of passion tea concentrate in my refrigerator all summer long. Then when I want an iced passion tea all I have to do is pour the concentrate over ice and add more water to it.
But if I’m in the mood for passion tea lemonade, then I pour the passion tea concentrate over ice in a glass (about halfway) and fill the other half with lemonade.
Keep in mind, you can make passion tea concentrate with either regular size tea bags or the larger ones.
Tazo Iced Passion Tea bags (pictured above) are what I usually use since they’re available at most grocery stores or places like the tea aisle of Target.
Normally, the rule of thumb when making tea is to use 1 tea bag for every 8 ounces of water.
To make a tea concentrate just double the number of tea bags. In other words, use 2 tea bags for every 8 ounces of water.
Step 3: Put the Iced Tea Drink Together
Iced Strawberry Passion Tea Ingredients
- Passion Tea Concentrate
- Filtered Water (or another cold drink)
- Strawberry Simple Syrup
- Ice
The ideal way to make iced tea is by the glass when you’re ready to drink it.
Did you know that putting ice in a pitcher of tea is never recommended? This is because it dilutes the tea as it melts.
Therefore, when you’re in the mood for an iced strawberry passion tea, just fill up a glass with ice. Then, fill it about halfway with the Tazo iced passion tea concentrate.
Next, stir in some fresh strawberry syrup and fill the rest of the glass up with another drink like water, seltzer, lemonade or coconut milk.
Step 4: Garnish the Drink (optional)
Iced Passion Tea Garnish Ideas
- Frozen sliced strawberries or oranges
- Sliced strawberries or oranges in ice cubes
- Strawberries on toothpick
- Orange or lemon wedge on glass
Fun and fruity drinks are perfect to garnish, especially when serving iced tea to guests.
If I remember to plan ahead, I like to freeze sliced, fresh strawberries or make fancy iced cubes with sliced fruit frozen inside.
Oranges and lemon are also a perfect way to garnish Tazo Passion Tea since, in addition to hibiscus, the tea blend contains orange peel and lemongrass.
Drink 1: Strawberry Passion Tea
Cool and refreshing iced strawberry passion tea is simple to make.
Simply fill a glass with ice cubes. I like to use ice made with filtered water for a crisp, clean taste.
Pour equal parts of tea concentrate and filtered water over the ice. And then stir in strawberry syrup as desired.
To make this drink extra special, I mix in a frozen slices of strawberries.
Drink 2: Strawberry Passion Tea Lemonade
To me, passion tea lemonade is the most thirst quenching drinks. There’s just something that I love about sweet herbal tea mixed with tart lemonade.
To make iced strawberry passion tea lemonade pour equal portions of the tea concentrate and lemonade over ice. Stir in some strawberry syrup and that’s it.
As an alternative, you can mix all three ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Just give the shaker about 10 good shakes and pour the frothy iced passion tea lemonade over ice.
Drink 3: Strawberry & Coconut Passion Tea Latte
Iced tea lattes look so fancy, but they’re as easy to make as any other iced tea.
To put together this iced strawberry & coconut passion tea latte, just pour equal amounts of passion tea concentrate and coconut milk over ice.
I like to first pour in the tea and then stir in the syrup. Next, pour the coconut milk on top.
If you want to make a shaken iced tea latte, simply put the tea concentrate, syrup and coconut milk in a shaker and shake it up.
Pour over ice and your drink is ready.
